The president of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon called on President Maia Sandu to immediately stop any action that destabilizes the situation in the Republic of Moldova and to urgently initiate consultations for overcoming this crisis. According to the Socialist leader, there is time and place for dialogue yet, IPN reports, quoting a Facebook posting of the politician.
Igor Dodon suggests initiating an institutional dialogue between the Parliament and the presidential administration and agreeing the date of snap parliamentary elections immediately after the pandemic shows clear signs of retreat. Later, there should be adopted all the documents needed for properly holding the snap elections, including decisions concerning the allocation of financial resources for elections.
The Socialist leader also proposes working out a roadmap for managing the economic, social and pandemic situation in the country during the next few months, until the snap parliamentary elections and until the new government is formed as a result of elections, and also creating a joint constitutional reform commission with the assistance of CoE experts, which would analyze the causes of the political crises of the last few years and the Constitutional Court’s role in causing these starting with 2013 and the measures that can be taken to avoid such situations that discredit the Constitution.
“We should all realize that the state institutions reached a very serious stalemate that creates dangerous preconditions for mutual accusations, for spontaneous protests and challenges staged by third forces, with unpredictable consequences for society and the country,” wrote Igor Dodon. According to him, currently, the political class needs a responsible dialogue and those who will deny this dialogue for overcoming the serious crisis should assume all the consequences.
