Igor Dodon: Under certain conditions, we are willing to support the government

"The presidential institution continues to support the government and the parliamentary majority, provided that the actions of political forces and persons do not exceed the limits of constitutional norms". This is the message issued by President Igor Dodon at a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Moldova.

The head of state said that he invited the ambassadors for an exchange of views on the situation regarding the internal politics of the Republic of Moldova. "I am firmly convinced that personal or party interests in no way can be put above the national interests of the Republic of Moldova", wrote Igor Dodon on social media.

On separate occasions that took place today, Igor Dodon met with the head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Peter Michalko, with the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan, and with the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov.

According to the president, he discussed several issues with Peter Michalko related to the strategic partnership between Moldova and the European Union. "I reaffirmed Moldova's commitment to implement the agreements signed with the European Union and to deepen the commercial-economic relations with the EU states", said Igor Dodon.

While meeting with the United States ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan, the president said that he discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with the ambassador and that they had an unanimous opinion regarding the need for better cooperation in the most important areas. "I underlined the fact that the President's Administration chooses to maintain social-political stability, but at the same time considers that all the actions of the national political forces must respect the constitutional framework, without violating the principle of the rule of law", wrote the president.

In regard to the the meeting with the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov, the head of state noted "the ascending character of bilateral relations, especially in the commercial and economic sphere". According to Igor Dodon, he confirmed to the Russian diplomat the Presidential Administration's commitment to maintain the current parliamentary majority and the government of the Republic of Moldova and stressed that the leaders of the political groups "should be guided solely by the interests of the state and should refrain from unilateral actions that contravene to existing agreements and go beyond the legal framework".
