The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said he will send a letter to the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis to ask him to make sure that the Romanian authorities detach themselves from the unionist movements in Moldova, IPN reports.
“We discussed with hundreds of people and these are very concerned about the attempts to destroy Moldova’s statehood. They are increasingly concerned about the unionist actions promoted massively in Moldova. These were always present, but have never been so promoted as now. If we do not stop on time, we could witness violence as most of the people are against,” Igor Dodon said at a press conference.
The politician noted that he asked the President of Romania to declare officially that Bucharest respects Moldova’s statehood and independence. “We want to believe that the unionist marches that are aimed at liquidating Moldova’s statehood are not supported by you. The official detachment of the Romanian government from the unionist movements will bring you closer to the people of the Republic of Moldova,” said the Socialists’ leader, reading the letter.
Igor Dodon also said that the Socialists this week will launch a number of activities to promote the love for the country’s statehood and independence.
