Communist MP Igor Dodon said the persons who investigate the April 2009 events try to make a show. “I think by April 7 or after this date, this commission (the parliamentary commission of inquiry – e.n.) and the investigation bodies will make public what happened on April 7, not what interests us in fact – who organized those events and why?” the MP said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Igor Dodon made statements for the press on April 1, before entering the Prosecutor General's Office, where he was to be questioned as a witness. The Communist MP said it is evident for everyone, even for those who do not want to admit it, that the April events constituted an attempted coup. Dodon said he agrees with former Premier Zinaida Grecianyi, who one day ago said those events represent a tragedy and a national shame. He recommended the parliamentary commission of inquiry to quiz those who staged those events and mobilized the young people in protests, arguing that the April 5 elections were rigged. “Those who reserved the Great National Assembly Square for April 6 and 7 should be the first to be questioned. Everyone knows who did it. The mayor general issued authorizations for protests to several political leaders. Unfortunately, the investigation bodies focus on the events that happened after April 7. I agree that those who maltreated the young people should be punished,” Dodon said. The MP expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that those who defended the symbols of the state are now held accountable, saying the police officers will not protect these symbols if similar events happen in the future. Tomorrow, the prosecutors will question Communist MPs Iurie Munteanu and Vadim Misin and again mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca and the former head of state Vladimir Voronin.
