President Igor Dodon said no federalization will exist in the Republic of Moldova as this is not real. In the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, he noted this matter is decided not by politicians, but by the people, IPN reports.

President Dodon made the clarification following the publication of video recordings of the talks held by him and the chairman of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc. These show how Igor Dodon was speaking about a possible agreement between the Socialists and the Democrats one of whose points referred to Moldova’s federalization.

Igor Dodon noted many of the published footages were truncated. “I knew we were filmed. I knew who I was talking to. I know very well that Plahotniuc is capable of doing something like this,” he stated, adding he would have broken the law, if he had signed agreements or laws in this regard.

According to him, the publication of the video recordings was a scarecrow for the United States and was also aimed at preventing a coalition between the Party of Socialists and the Bloc ACUM. The idea of federalization was earlier proposed by the Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc.
