President Igor Dodon said he follows with concern the developments in Parliament, where the fourth attempt to present the bills for which the Government assumed responsibility will be made today. After saying that there is an alliance of the chaos in Parliament, formed for electoral and criminal purposes, President Dodon called on the opposition MPs to show responsibility and make sure that the Parliament’s sitting takes place, IPN reports.

“For over a week, the parliamentary opposition - the oligarchic parties of Shor, Plahotniuc, Candu - with the voluntary participation of Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase, has blocked the money that is to reach the people who suffer and await this assistance,” President Dodon stated in a press briefing on July 9.

“I realize the interest of each participant in this alliance. The parties of Plahotniuc, Shor, Candu have very clear goals – to destabilize the situation so as to blackmail the President and the Prime Minister and solve their criminal problems. They transmitted this message earlier too – no discussions with the bandits.”

Igor Dodon also said that if a quorum is not present at today’s sitting of Parliament too, he will take other kinds of decisions. “Together with the Prime Minister, during the next few days we will take decisions and actions so as to be near the people in this cynical war where there are the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, on the one side, and the mafia together with Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase, who voluntarily or unconsciously take part in this blockage, on the other side.”

President Dodon noted it’s clear that the current legislature is no longer representative and he, as the Head of State, will make use of all the legal powers to initiate the dissolution of Parliament in the nearest future.

After three failed attempts owing to the absence of a quorum, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said he will go again to Parliament on July 9 to present the bills for which the Government assumed responsibility last week. The last sitting of Parliament set for July 6 could not take place as the quorum was not present. There were 50 MPs of the 101 in the hall. As at the previous two sittings, MPs Ilan Șor and Ștefan Gațcan and those of the PPPDA, PAS, Pro Moldova and the Shor Party were absent.
