President Igor Dodon said there are risks that the upcoming parliamentary elections will not be recognized. According to him, administrative resources could be used to prevent the registration of an electoral competitor or to void the elections in particular single-member constituencies. The issue was developed in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.

According to him, the Socialists and other bodies could not recognize the elections. “Much more attention will be devoted to these elections than to other elections,” stated Igor Dodon.

As to the mixed-member electoral system, President Dodon said this is favorable to the citizens and was a commitment undertaken by the Socialists. Referring to the Socialists’ vote for the replacement of the electoral system together with the Democratic Party, he noted the voting in Parliament of particular laws does not mean coalition or alliance with the current government. “We signed dozens of simple motions or even no-confidence motions against the Government together with the PLDM and others. There are interests, not permanent partnerships in politics. For us, it was important to introduce the mixed system and you will see that this system favors the citizens and the Party of Socialists too,” stated the official.

As regards the fiscal amnesty, the President said this was a mistake made by the government as no one will want to legalize their gains. Furthermore, even if someone benefits from this reform, it won’t be a secret who are those who legalized the money.
