President Igor Dodon said there are all the preconditions for 2017 to be a successful one for joint activities aimed at improving the relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol. He made such a statement in a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Kasnoselski in Bender on January 4, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, the interlocutors discussed the agenda and the whole range of problems accumulated during the last few years, including those related to education, motor transport, communications and movement of people. Furthermore, the two agreed to formulate a set of solutions that will be discussed in the next high-level meetings planned for the nearest future.
President Igor Dodon said this is the first meeting between leaders after 2008. He voiced hope that the accumulated problems will be gradually solved in the course of this year.
For his part, Vadim Kasnoselski appreciated the bilateral meeting, underlining its informative character. He said it is a good start for ensuring cooperation in solving concrete problems concerning the people living on both sides of the Nistru River.
