The Moldovan authorities are optimistic that the Russian gas will reach Moldova through Ukraine after Januarys 1, 2020 as well. In a press briefing in the morning of December 16, President Igor Dodon said the discussions on the issue are close to an end. At the same time, the Republic of Moldova signed the contracts needed to eventually ensure an alternative scenario.
“There are no risks related to the supply of gas and electric power to the Republic of Moldova as of January 1,” assured President Dodon.
In another development, he announced that an economic forum will be held in Chisinau on December 17 and this will involve senior state officials. This will center on the economic and investment climate.
