President Igor Dodon addressed a congratulatory message to his Romanian counterpart, Klaus Iohannis, on the occasion of reelection as president of Romania. "The Romanians also made an important choice for the Republic of Moldova, by entrusting you with the presidential mandate, and I have full confidence that you will continue to actively contribute to the good cooperation between our countries", said the head of state.
"The Republic of Moldova appreciates your contribution and the contribution of the Romanian people in Moldova's European evolution and the constant support provided via multiple important projects for the development of our country. I wish that, over the course of your new term, together we will manage to keep Romania and the Republic of Moldova as far as possible from false geopolitical debates, while bringing our citizens closer and working for their well-being", said Igor Dodon.
According to the head of state, the Republic of Moldova remains committed to reforms and wants to contribute to the strengthening of security in the region, together with Romania and Ukraine.
On Sunday, November 24, Klaus Iohannis won his second term as president of Romania. Klaus Iohannis, the PNL candidate, accumulated over 63% of the votes, while Viorica Dăncilă, the PSD candidate, got almost 37% during the second round of presidential elections.
