This autumn the Party of Socialists (PSRM) will stage large-scale protests not against particular political players, but to explain to the people who has ruled the country during the past nine years, President Igor Dodon stated in the program “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“I think in autumn the Socialists should mount large protests, but not against particular players. They should explain to the people who are those who have ruled the country during the past nine years,” said President Dodon.

As to the demonstrations and counterdemonstrations held recently in Moldova, he said those who ruled during the past nine years protest against each other.

Igor Dodon noted three government scenarios are possible after the upcoming parliamentary elections. The Socialists would win a majority of seats and would rule alone or together with several independent MPs. A coalition of the right would be formed against the Socialists, which is rather improbable, and early parliamentary elections would be held. “If we do not reach a compromise, we will insist on holding early parliamentary elections where the Socialists would win more. This is our firm and clear position that is fair in relation to everyone,” he stated.

President Dodon does not rule out the possibility that he will head the PSRM’s list of candidates in the parliamentary elections as the Head of State is not banned from doing this. The Party of Socialists will have candidates in all the constituencies.

He noted that more polling places should be established for the diaspora, especially for the Moldovans in Russia. Furthermore, the citizens who are abroad should be given two days to vote as they travel hundreds of kilometers to the polling place to cast their ballot. But the government will not accept these proposals because it is not interested.
