Regardless of the election outcome, the people must be called to calm, candidate for President Igor Dodon stated in a news conference following the closing of polls According to him, society does not need destabilization of the situation in Moldova, IPN reports.
“This campaign was a difficult one that disturbed society. Evidently, there will be persons satisfied and dissatisfied with the results, but I have a very clear message: let’s not cause chaos in society. Our goal is to ensure balance,” stated Igor Dodon.
According to him, the people have waited long for the possibility of electing the President themselves and that’s why the voter turnout was so high. “I thank those who cast their ballots,” stated Igor Dodon.
The Socialist candidate also said some of the people were unable to vote as there were not enough ballots and officials of the Central Election Commission, the Government will have to answer for this.
