President Igor Dodon said Parliament rejected his initiative to repeal the ‘stolen US$1 billiard law’ without any plausible argument on the part of the MPs of the ruling alliance and its satellites. In a posting on Facebook, the Head of State says forces should be joined to annul this shameful law, IPN reports.

“I cannot say that I’m very surprised, but I think that all the country’s people should know the names of the MPs who didn’t support this initiative and especially the names of those who want uninominal elections very much. I reiterate that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova must repay nothing of the money that was stolen. The money must be returned by the thieves and their property should be confiscated. I remind that in the first meeting of the Supreme Security Council, I will raise the subject of the theft of the century,” wrote Igor Dodon.

According to the President, in the current conditions, enabling the people to pronounce on the issue is another solution that he proposed earlier too. “It should be noted that the first related payments from the state budget are to be made in November 2017. Until then, we must maximally combine forces for this shameful law to be annulled,” also wrote Igor Dodon.

On March 10, Parliament rejected President Igor Dodon’s first legislative initiative to repeal the law that transforms the loans provided to three banks under state guarantee into public debt. When put to the vote, the President’s initiative was supported by only 31 MPs. The Socialists left the sitting in protest.
