The agenda of the priority reforms and the basic objectives to be dealt with by the government comprises at least five main directions: the justice reform and ensuring human rights, fighting corruption and institutions in the service of citizens, economic development and enhancing social equity, strengthening neutrality and reintegrating the country, promoting a balanced foreign policy. This was mentioned by President Igor Dodon in his speech on Independence Day at the official reception on August 27th, IPN reports.
"I am pleased to note that, during this period, also owing to the support of our development partners, we have made substantial progress in developing and coordinating the justice reform concept. There is a common position within the government regarding most elements of the reform. We all are aware of and support the idea of assessment, according to professionalism and integrity criteria, of the body of judges and prosecutors by commissions made up of outstanding personalities from the field of justice, including from abroad”, stated the head of state.
Igor Dodon said that as for a real, not just declarative independence of the state, one could speak only if human rights are observed, including electoral ones, as well as the right to a fair trial, to decent living standards, etc. In his opinion, these objectives can only be achieved if democratic institutions are strengthened by ensuring an authentic and efficient separation of powers in the state.
"Economic issues, the low standards of living of the majority of the country’s citizens must become top priority for the Government. We need policies to boost economic growth, whereas the support of the development partners and their related conditionalities must in no way affect the business environment and the investment climate. We have to act proactively, to attract investments in a bold and wise manner”, the president noted.
"It is very important to return to pursuing a balanced foreign policy, without taking false steps or actions that are obviously unfriendly towards certain countries or traditional partners. Moldova needs the support of the main world powers to solve its most important internal problems. We are pleased with the consensus of the external partners regarding the current governance in Chisinau and we see this as a good opportunity to benefit from such assistance”, said the head of state.
To this end, says the president, he will bring back on his agenda the previously announced initiative regarding the so-called "All-inclusive package for Moldova". "We are willing to resume consultations with our partners from the East and West on the subject of developing a roadmap in order to successfully implement it. Moldova will continue to respect the commitments made within the framework of trade, economic and social agreements, including the Association Agreement with the EU, CIS, etc.”, stated Igor Dodon.
