President Igor Dodon says that the political agreement between PSRM and ACUM bloc could be signed next week if parties complete the talks on reforms, IPN reports.
At the press conference held after the Supreme Security Council meeting, the Head of state said that the agreement had several components. On domestic policy, there are envisaged reforms in the field of justice and concerning the prosecutor's office.
The activity of parliamentary groups is also on the list. Under this agreement the parties do not accept party switching and the creation of coalitions with deputies from other groups.
The document provides more details on the general local elections of October 20. "There must be stipulated very clear conditions for the Socialists and ACUM on how to participate, there must be a non-aggression pact between them," declared Igor Dodon.
As concerns foreign policy, there will be measures regarding the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, but also the re-establishment of relations with some strategic partners.
The President says that, most likely, he will countersign the agreement "to support the implementation of these reforms". A week ago, deputy Vlad Batrîncea, later supported by Igor Dodon, stated that the Socialists would insist on the urgent signing of a political agreement between PSRM and ACUM Bloc, "where the objectives of the country's internal and foreign policy will be clearly outlined, in order to exclude situations that present a major risk to the entire governance process”.
Earlier, Prime Minister Maia Sandu, PAS leader, said that there was a chance for ACUM Bloc and PSRM to sign a "non-aggression agreement" for the general local elections of October 20. Mihai Popșoi, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, wrote on Facebook that an agreement between ACUM and PSRM could be signed only after the approval of the action plan targeting the justice reform, demonopolization, economic reforms and social protection measures. "Ensuring the independence of the justice system is the main objective of Maia Sandu’s government, which is why it is important to receive the full support of the parties in this process," the PAS deputy wrote.
