The president of honor of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon commented on the results of the last public opinion poll that shows the people are dissatisfied with the performance of the current government. He said that even if the citizens are disconnected, not the political parties should stage antigovernment protests as such protests would only help the government justify its failure in managing the country, IPN reports.
The president of honor of the PSRM said intricate sociological surveys are not necessary for making it clear that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are disappointed with the actions of the current government, while the energy crisis seriously damaged the image of PAS. However, the opposition parties should not mount protests and should only support the people so that these mobilize themselves against the government.
“The people are disappointed and ask me what they should do? If it is opportune to take to the streets? I think not the parties, but the ordinary citizens who are dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country should mount protests. If a political organization stages protests, the government will say that it is the hand of Moscow. Do you see that they blame the Russian tanks, Putin, Gazprom? A protest organized by parties will only help the government. Therefore, the people should take to the streets and they will do it if they want this government to be changed,” Igor Dodon stated in a program on “Primul în Moldova” channel.
He noted that the searches carried out at different state institutions, the arrest of former MPs, the case of Energocom in which he is investigated as a suspect are nothing but the central administration’s attempts to camouflage the incapacity to govern.
“The poll shows the people realized that they will not live better under this government. For the first time in the history of the Republic of Moldova, the ruling party slid in polls so swiftly. The government ruled for only six months and the trends during the first six months or even a year are usually upward. In the snap parliamentary elections, PAS gained 53% of the vote. Now their rating is under 36%. They lost almost 20% of the voters. Instead of drawing conclusions, the current government tries to cover this decline with shows. When they raise prices and tariffs, they invite Dodon to the Prosecutor’s Office. We see all kinds of arrests. But the people already realized these things,” stated Igor Dodon.
According to a recent public opinion poll, if elections were held next Sunday in the Republic of Moldova, 25.2% of the respondents of a poll would vote for the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists, 22.7% for the Party of Action and Solidarity, while 8.1% for Șor Party. The survey was conducted by CBS-Research, being commissioned by the Institute for Political Science and International Relations “Ioan I.C. Brătianu” of the Romanian Academy in partnership with the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” of Chisinau.
