The Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon said the joint candidate of the center-right forces Maia Sandu is actually the one around whom the Moldovan oligarchs united. The leader of the Party of Socialists called on his supporters to vote for him on October 30 so that he could win the elections by the first round, IPN reports.

“October 30 can make history and can be a very important day after the declaration of independence. We can start to change things. We protested together with the whole people and, together with the majority of people, are against this government. During the last two years, we slept in the square, marched in cold weather and obtained together the right to choose the President by direct vote. We can now reap the harvest. We protested and still have what to protest against,” stated the politician.

Igor Dodon called on the sympathizers of the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who, as he says, was cynically removed from the election campaign, to remember the protests staged together with the Socialists and to support him in the elections. He also called upon those who wanted to vote for the Democrats’ candidate Marian Lupu, who withdrew from the race, saying a Socialist President is better than a hypocritical and false Maia Sandu.

The candidate also addressed the supporters of “Our Party”, saying now their leader Renato Usatyi is unjustly persecuted. “Think what you do as your vote can be decisive. Dumitru Chubashenko (the candidate of “Our Party”) is a good journalist, but this does not have chances of reaching the runoff elections, while your vote for him is indirectly in favor of Maia Sandu. I will do my best for early parliamentary elections to take place and for your party to enter Parliament where I will need partners,” he stated.

Igor Dodon also alled on the members of the Party of Communists to give up boycotting the elections and to vote a Socialist President whose ideology is similar to theirs.
