During the 26 years of the declaration of Moldova’s independence, no one dared to violate the Constitution so seriously as the current government did, President Igor Dodon stated in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel, referring to the Constitutional Court’s judgment concerning the appointment of the minister of defense, IPN reports.

The President considers a parliamentary majority at the limit of legitimacy imposes the personal opinion on the Constitutional Court. The goal of this judgment was to press the President to concede to the Democratic Party and the whole government. “They adopted this decision in the hope that I will get scared and will sign,” said Igor Dodon.

According to him, the Constitution was interpreted so that if the President does not accept something, someone else could sign the decree, but this is usurpation of state power. “This does not mean that the President was dismissed as this can be done by referendum. They do not want a referendum because they are afraid,” said President Dodon.

In another development, the President said the Party of Socialists on October 28 launches a nationwide campaign to collect signatures in favor of changing the form of government in Moldova. “We will go from home to home and will urge the people to sign for this initiative and I’m firmly convinced that it will be supported,” stated Igor Dodon.

He also said that he could soon present a proposal for holding a consultative referendum to ban unionism in the Republic of Moldova. “I anticipate the result as I’m firmly convinced that most of the citizens are categorically against those who want to liquidate the statehood,” said the President.

According to him, the struggle between the President and the government will not stop at this yearend.
