The chairman of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said the vote in the UK referendum means the start of the EU’s end. In a message on a social networking site, the politician wrote that the EU is a project with a past, but without a future, IPN reports.
“For the European countries, the own sovereignty and keeping of the own traditions and national interests become more important than the temporary economic benefits provided by the Schengen Area,” wrote Igor Dodon.
According to him, Moldova should not run after a train that loses railcars. “We should focus on Moldova and should learn to develop with our own forces. Moldova has a future!” said the Socialist leader.
Slightly over half of those who took part in the June 23 referendum voted for the UK to leave the EU, according to the preliminary results.
