Igor Dodon in Munich: Balanced foreign policy will be a priority for Government

Igor Dodon assured the foreign partners with whom he met at the Munich Security Conference that the earlier signed agreements and the balanced foreign policy will remain a priority for the current government of the Republic of Moldova. He informed about this through a video posted on his Facebook page, IPN reports.

According to him, the officials inquired about the Transnistrian issue. “Everyone understands that the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict would enhance and would lead to increased security in the region. In the discussions with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, he pleaded for the continuation of the “small steps policy” and the implementation of the ”Berlin+” Protocol in the Transnistrian conflict settlement. He noted he banks on Albania’s support in securing progress in the Transnistrian issue given that this country holds the OSCE Chairmanship.

Igor Dodon told Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, about the strategic investment projects announced by the Moldovan administration in such key areas as transport, energy, logistics and information technology. He urged the business community of Germany to invest in these and other projects.

President Dodon noted that in Munich, in a friendly atmosphere, he exchanged opinions with the President of France Emmanuel Macron, about the bilateral relations, regional and European security. “I invited Mister Macron to pay an official visit to Moldova and I hope a lot to see him in the nearest future in our country”. At the same time, in the break between the working sessions of the Munich Security Conference, Igor Dodon had an informal discussion with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“We discussed in brief the bilateral relations. I expressed my recognition to Mister Pompeo for the clear, publicly expressed position of the U.S. Department of State concerning Moldovan fugitive Vladimir Plahotniuc”.

In a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boiko Borisov, President Dodon discussed details about the official visit that is to be paid by his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev to Moldova this spring. He pleaded for the intensification of the bilateral relations at parliamentary level.
