The Head of State said he is not anti-Romania, but he is and will be anti-unionism and pleads for keeping the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. He made such a statement in a meeting with representatives of the media held exactly one month after his installation as President, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon said he respects the opinion of every citizen because all are equal before the law, but, as he said earlier too, he is against unionist movements and parties and is for banning these because they lead to the liquidation of statehood by their approaches. A similar approach exists in the Romanian state and persons were even convicted there for promoting unionism.

President Dodon said he does not agree with the Romanian President’s previous statements that the President of Moldova should abide by the limits of the Constitution and described them as interference in the political affairs of Moldova. In this connection, Igor Dodon said that until now the behavioral suggestions made to the President were accepted, but he will not tolerate such a practice, specifying he does not interfere in Romania’s internal affairs and Klaus Iohannis should do the same.

The Head of State noted that the future visits after his visit to Brussels could be made to the neighboring states Ukraine and Romania, depending on where the invitation comes from.
