The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon said he is absolutely sure that they are heading for victory. He noted that as President, he will deal with three priorities, one of which is to annul the law that makes the repayment of the money stolen from the banking system the people’s burden. Restoring the partnerships with Russia and the fight against those who aim to destroy Moldova’s statehood, the unionists, are the other two priorities, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon told a news conference that the election campaign was rather harsh and with manipulations, during which his political opponents, especially Maia Sandu, didn’t want to discuss Moldova’s future.

The Socialist candidate said he defends Moldova’s statehood, while his opponent Maia Sandu pleads for the union with Romania. He is for keeping Moldova’s neutrality and for not joining NATO, as Maia Sandu and her supporters suggest.

The politician noted he will struggle for a powerful economy and for social justice, while the ruling thieves should return the billions of lei stolen from the banking sector. Maia Sandu is the one who supported these thefts.

According to Igor Dodon, as President he will restore the relations with Russia, but will keep those with the EU. He promised the exports to Russia will be resumed and the problems of the Moldovans who were banned from entering Russia will be solved.

The candidate also said that he has been in the opposition during the last seven years and organized hundreds of protests against the oligarchs and will continue this fight. He will make effort for early parliamentary elections to be held and will not form a coalition with the ruling oligarchs.
