The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon does not believe that the Socialist MPs should vote for the Cabinet proposed by Igor Grosu, who was nominated for Prime Mister by presidential degree. According to him, if the candidate gains a vote of confidence, this will not happen with the PSRM’s vote, IPN reports.

“I think he would not govern long if he is voted in. But I consider and can assure you that if he is voted in, this will happen without the participation of the Party of Socialists. And I can assure you that if he is removed, he will be removed with the participation of the Party of Socialists,” the politician stated in his weekly program broadcast live.

Igor Dodon said he does not agree with some of the discussions held in Parliament. He does not agree that Igor Grosu should be voted in and should be then dismissed in the evening of the same day. “He should govern for several months to prove the efficiency of Maia Sandu’s magic measures. He will leave himself. The people will drive him, the Government and the President away,” stated Igor Dodon.

After negotiations held with the parliamentary groups on March 16, President Maia Sandu said that she took note of Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership and, as there was no candidate supported by a formalized parliamentary majority, she decided to propose PAS president Igor Grosu for Prime Minister. On March 17, the Party of Socialists challenged the presidential decree in the Constitutional Court and the next day announced the formation of a parliamentary majority that proposed current Ambassador of Moldova to Russia Vladimir Golovatiuc for Prime Minister.
