The administration of Moldova blackmailed the EU and the U.S. with the change of the geopolitical course in order to obtain money, the chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon said in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, quoted by IPN.
“Plahotniuc, Filat and Ghimpu threatened the European Union and the United States that if these don’t give them money, Dodon will come and will modify the pro-European course. While these were stealing billions of lei, the EU and the U.S. provided financial assistance. To a certain extent, the EU and the U.S. were accomplices to this stealing. I discussed with the U.S. ambassador and told him that they bear a part of the blame and that they were accomplices,” said the Socialist leader.
He also said that he no longer supports the protests mounted by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” as he understood that Vlad Filat is behind them. “Initially, I thought that these protests are organized by civil society, but then I realized that they are used by Filat against Plahotniuc. Filat wants to avoid answering for the bank frauds and to obtain the release of his relatives who are suspected of involvement in these frauds,” stated Igor Dodon.
The leader of the PSRM accused also the previous governments of the situation in which Moldova is now, but said that he does not assume responsibility for the period during which he was in power. “When I was minister of economy, I did my best to remedy the economic situation and achieved results. In that particular period, the largest number of foreign investors came to Moldova,” he said.
