After 99.9% of the votes were counted, the Central Election Commission said Igor Dodon gathered over 835,000 votes, while Maia Sandu over 761,000. More than 1.6 million people cast their ballots, which is over 53% of the voters on electoral rolls, IPN reports.

According to the CEC, the highest turnout of voters was recorded in the municipality of Chisinau – over 58%. The lowest turnout was in Cantemir district – about 41% of the voters.

The profile of voters shows that the 26-40 age category was the most active one. The turnout in this category was over 27%. The number of women who voted in elections was by almost 100,000 higher than that of men.

CEC president Alina Russu said two more electoral reports were processed by this hour – from a polling place in Sacramento, U.S., and from a polling place in Montroy, France. Only two of the reports came to the CEC in paper form – from the districts of Soldanesti and Dubasari.

CEC member Iurie Ciocan said the two parcels with lost ballots reached the destination. They were sent back to Chisinau without being opened.
