The President of Moldova Igor Dodon said he does not see how the Party of Socialists (PSRM) could establish a partnership with any of the parties with chances of entering Parliament. He referred to the Democratic Party (PDM) and the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS formed by the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, IPN reports.

President Dodon made the statement after Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu told a news conference that one should never say never, referring to a possible coalition of the PDM and PSRM, noting yet he cannot imagine a coalition between the Democrats and the Socialists.

Igor Dodon said it will be very risky if attempts are made to annul the election results in a constituency or in several constituencies after the parliamentary elections as both the West and the East could not recognize the elections. “What do elections unrecognized at foreign level mean? They mean mobilization of the people to protests, both by the left and by the right. They mean elections rerun under the pressure of those who took to the streets, under the pressure of the opposition,” he stated, noting in such a situation the current ruling party will only lose and it will thus not resort to such a step.

According to him, the PSRM has chances of winning more seats in single-member constituencies in the upcoming elections because the elections will be held in one round only. “If there had been two rounds of voting, the chances would have been equaled. One would have needed 50 votes +1. But when there is only one round, a party with a rating of 35-45% has the biggest chances if the struggle is held in equal conditions and if administrative resources are not used,” President Dodon stated in the talk show “Fourth power” on N4 channel.

Igor Dodon avoided saying if he will run on the list of the Party of Socialists in the upcoming parliamentary elections, but noted he considers it is not right for him to leave the office of President in favor of the seat of MP or the post of Premier as the Head of State was elected by the people and he has responsibilities before them. “I think this will be betrayal of the interests of those who supported me,” he stated.

As to the recent appointments at the Constitutional Court, Igor Dodon said those persons were named judges at the CC because there was no place for them on the list of candidates. The most trustworthy people of the Democrats were put on the party’s list for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Those who were appointed CC judges could leave the posts after a new parliamentary majority is formed after the elections. This was an incorrect move and an incorrect approach.
