The resolution adopted by the European Parliament is one more result of the political struggle between the parties of the right and of the abuses committed by the government, starting with the limitation of the President’s powers and continuing with other actions by which they undermined the rule of law, said President Igor Dodon.
In a posting on Facebook that is quoted by IPN, Igor Dodon said these parties that claim to be ‘pro-European’ have ruled since 2009 and the citizens have suffered as a result of the struggles between the ‘pro-Europeans’ that involved European politicians. After the elections, these parties should have found a place in the opposition and the Socialists could have saved the country and promoted a balanced foreign policy so as to restore the good relations with the East and with the West and rebuilt he relations with Russia, which were compromised by the current government and the ‘pro-European’ right.
Igor Dodon voices hope that after today’s vote in the European Parliament, the citizens will convince themselves once against that the direction to the West is only a political story from which some of the parties profit, while the money received by Moldova is often not really used to satisfy the needs of society, but is used in the interests of the ‘pro-European’ parties. “We should swiftly announce parliamentary elections and save the country from these ‘pro-European’ alliances and the country should be ruled by professionals and real patriots of the Republic of Moldova,” wrote Igor Dodon.
He also said it’s regrettable that none of the MEPs found it necessary to remind that the Socialist candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban was abusively and illegally deprived of the votes gained in elections so as to prevent him from becoming a mayor. “If the Europeans had been objective at least minimally, they would have first penalized this deviation from the rule of law. But they show that they treat Moldova depending on their political sympathies, in the absence of a correct approach to all the citizens,” wrote President Dodon.
At the suggestion of the Group of the European People’s Party, the European Parliament, with 345 votes in favor, 160 abstentions and 35 votes against, adopted a resolution by which it recommends the European Commission to suspend any foreseen payments of macro-financial assistance and budget support to Moldova. The MEPs consider any decision on the future payments should be taken only after the planned parliamentary elections and on condition that these are held in accordance with the internationally recognized standards and are assessed by specialized intentional organizations.
