Calling of early parliamentary elections, formation of a center-left government and termination of the Association Agreement with the EU are the priorities on which the chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) Igor Dodon insists. The Socialists’ leader developed the issues in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“We will not form coalitions and will not take part in the formation of the government. If they manage to form a new government, this will not resist long. There is no other solution than holding early elections. The ruling parties did nothing for the people. An agreement with them cannot be reached. They all compete between them so as to see who is greater and stronger. The PLDM said they will take part in the negotiations only if Vlad Filat is released. Those from the PDM are glad that they control the state. Those from the PL are indifferent and want just to manage several ministries. The Communists are ready to jump into any boat,” stated Igor Dodon.

He is convinced that early legislative elections will take place and that a center-left government will be installed as a result of these. “After the early elections, we will be able to form a center-left coalition and a pro-Moldova government. New parties could come to power after these.  The early elections will transform the Moldovan political class,” said the Socialists’ leader.

As to the Association Agreement with the EU, Dodon said that this should be terminated, but the visa-free regime should be maintained. “We are against keeping the Association Agreement with the EU because it destroys our economy and our national values. The visa-free regime must be maintained so that the people could travel freely and do not have to apply for Romanian nationality,” said the chairman of the PSRM.

Igor Dodon assured that the protests mounted by the Socialists will continue until the head of state is dismissed and Parliament is dissolved. “We obtained particular things as a result of the protests. The governor of the National Bank resigned and Filat was arrested. A sum of about 400,000 lei has been spent so far. It’s not so easy to maintain warmth in tents and public order. We are supported with donations,” he stated.
