President Igor Dodon intends to block the bill that enables current and former MPs to become lawyers without taking the bar exam. In an extended meeting with journalists in the evening of January 24, the Head of State said he could send this bill back to Parliament if it is adopted, IPN reports.

According to Igor Dodon, this means that the President will not sign that law. “I have a lot of questions to this legislative initiative and do not rule out the possibility that I will send it back to Parliament if it is passed,” he stated.

Last yearend, a group of MPs representing different parliamentary groups proposed a bill that allows current and former MPs who are jurists by profession to enter the bar without taking the bar exam, which is now mandatory for any applicant.
