President Igor Dodon presented the first awards as Head of State. Two women who raise by 17 children were awarded the Order of the Republic, while another two women, with 12 and 13 children, received the Order of Honor, IPN reports.

The awards were conferred in gratitude for special contribution to strengthening the institution of family and to creating socially responsible families that ensure the physical, spiritual and moral education of children and their harmonious development.

In the award ceremony, Igor Dodon said the families with many children must enjoy the attention and support of the state.

“I will not confer many awards. They will be few in number, but important. The Republic of Moldova faces a serious demographic problem. We have villages where children haven’t been born during the past year. Therefore, I give you all my support. You, the families with many children, educate them in the family and assumed this major responsibility and the senior administration appreciates you highly for this,” stated the President.

He also said he will initiate legislative amendments to ensure support for the families with many children.
