Following discussions with PSRM, PDM, and NOW, President Igor Dodon has stated he came to the conclusion that none of the parties wanted snap elections, even if they were ready for them, and that all three entities were willing to participate in forming the government in one way or another.

The president said the rounds of talks have made him more optimistic about the possibility of a parliamentary majority being formed in the near future. He hoped today’s discussions would be followed by bilateral negotiations. Igor Dodon stated that he was ready to endorse any parliamentary majority unless it was formed with defectors participating.

Dodon further stated he was ready to moderate a trilateral meeting between the Socialists, the Democrats and NOW next Tuesday at noon.

Igor Dodon today met with PSRM, PDM and NOW, one party at a time, in a bid to break the ice of government formation talks. Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuc appeared to be in the most optimistic mood after the meetings, saying his party intended to form a parliamentary majority as soon as possible.
