The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon is sure that if the presidential elections take place, this will be won by a representative of the opposition, either of the left or of the right. In the program “Politics” on TV7 channel, the politician said the President will be able to provoke early parliamentary elections, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon said the Party of Socialists insists on the dismissal of the executive, reminding about the no-confidence motion proposed by the party’s parliamentary group that needs more signatures for being registered. He noted that to hold parliamentary elections and presidential elections simultaneously, the Cabinet should be dismissed by the end of May. If early legislative elections cannot be caused now, the future Head of State will be able to provoke these.
The politician didn’t specify the ways by which the President can provoke early parliamentary elections, but said that there are many such possibilities. He considers that until the current government is in power, the country cannot be freed from captivity.
Igor Dodon also said that the current government remains in power only because it is supported by the external partners that fear early legislative elections. “Without the financial support on the part of the Europeans and Americans, this government will not resist at least until this yearend,” said the Socialist leader.
