With 93% of the votes cast in the presidential elections of November 1 being counted, the results are as follows: independent candidate Igor Dodon, who is supported by the Party of Socialists, won 35.79% of the ballot, while PAS candidate Maia Sandu – 32.26% of the vote, IPN reports.
The Our Party’s candidate Renato Usatyi gained about 17% of the poll, the Shor Party’s candidate Violeta Ivanov – about 7%, the PPPDA candidate Andrei Năstase – 3.2%, the PUN candidate Octavian Țîcu – almost 2%, the PLDM candidate Tudor Deliu – 1.5%, the UNION Bloc’s candidate Dorin Chirtoacă – over 1.1%.
After processing 46 vote reports of out-of-country polling stations from 139, Maia Sandu is shown to be the leader with 61.18% of the poll, being followed by Renato Usatyi with 18.03%. Igor Dodon ranks third with 13.26%, being followed by Andrei Năstase – 2.53%, Octavian Țîcu – 1.91%, Dorin Chirtoacă – 1.48%, Violeta Ivanov – 1.06% and Tudor Deliu – 0.53%.
Under the Election Code, if none of the candidates for President gains at least half of the voters of those who cast their ballots, runoffs are held for the first two candidates with the largest score in the first round of voting in two weeks.
