Igor Dobrovolski is the new coach of Veris Chisinau. He took over the team from Danut Oprea, who offered his resignation after suffering a 0-3 defeat to Sheriff, IPN reports.

Dobrovolski returns to Moldova’s championship after leaving Dacia at the end of last year’s competition. He will make his debut for Veris on November 2, in a match against Dacia, with which he became champion two years ago.

“I was first contacted by Veris half a year ago. We have held talks since then. The contract I signed is for an unlimited period of time. It is important to achieve our objective – to qualify for the European cups,” Igor Dobrovolski told a news conference on October 31.

The 46-year-old coach trained the national team of Moldova, which he propelled up to the 37th place in the FIFA rankings.

As a player, Dobrovolski became Olympic champion in 1988 in the composition of the Soviet Union. In 1993 he won the Champions League with Olympique Marseille. He started his career as a footballer at Nistru Chisinau. The last match he played also in Moldova, at Tiligul Tiraspol.
