Head of Parliament Igor Corman considers it is opportune to create a parliamentary commission for Moldova’s relations with the EU after the November 30 legislative elections. He made such statements in an interview for Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.

“After the elections, we will have to take decisions. I consider we must set up a separate parliamentary commission for European affairs or for European integration. This commission will provide special attention to the implementation of the Association Agreement. Such a body will be needed in the executive too. This subject will be surely discussed,” he stated.

Igor Corman noted that the European partners, after they invested so much in Moldova, expect the November 30 parliamentary elections to be free and fair. The elections will be a test for the Moldovan democracy and the European partners anticipate a solid pro-European majority will be elected. After the elections, the whole energy will be directed towards the implementation of the Association Agreement.

According to the Speaker, after all the ruling bodies are formed, the association agenda with the EU will start to be implemented. It includes a number of priorities such as the adjustment of the national legislation to the international one, the implementation of the justice sector reform, the reformation of the prosecution service, and the de-politicization of all the bodies fighting corruption so that the evident results are achieved in combating this phenomenon.

As regards the ratification of the Association Agreement by all the legislative bodies of the EU, Igor Corman said the results of the November 30 elections will represent a signal in this respect.
