Head of Parliament Igor Corman is paying an official visit to Sweden on March 17-18, at the invitation of his counterpart Per Westerberg. In Stockholm, Igor Corman will meet with the Speaker and First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Per Westerberg and Susanne Eberstein and with MPs and the President of the Stockholm City Council Margareta Björk, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the legislative body, the Speaker is accompanied by a parliamentary delegation consisting of MPs Valeriu Strelet, Ion Hadarca and Valentina Stratan.
The delegation will have a meeting with the governor of Uppsala province Peter Egardt and will make visits to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, the Uppsala University, the University’s Holding Company and the Uppsala Innovation Center AB.
The Speaker of the Riksdag Per Westerberg paid a working visit to Moldova last September. The Parliament of Sweden helped the Parliament of Moldova within a democracy strengthening program implemented in 2012-2013. Currently, the legislature benefits from assistance from Sweden and Norway as part a project implemented by UNDP – Improving the Quality of Moldovan Democracy through Parliamentary and Electoral Support.
