The support of the Moldovans from abroad is very important for building Moldova’s European future, Head of Parliament Igor Corman said in a meeting in Rome with representatives of the community of Moldovans in Italy, IPN reports.
“We need your valuable contribution and experience. We must act in concert and be united for the European future of our country,” said Igor Corman, thanking the Moldovans for being near the country and for caring about Moldova’s fate.
Speaking about the signing of the Association Agreement, the Speaker said that when the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area is created, more Moldovan products will have access to the EU market “For Moldova, there is no other way out than the European one. The country must be modernized by implementing European standards with the support of the EU,” said Igor Corman. He assured that the authorities are taking measures for the people to feel the results of their efforts.
Igor Corman also met with representative of the Italian business community. He called on the Italian businessmen to extend their investments into Moldova. During the day, the parliamentary delegation had discussions with members of the commissions for EU policies of the two chambers of the Italian Parliament and with members of the parliamentary group of friendship with Moldova.
According to the National Institute of Statistics of Italy, the community of Moldovans includes about 150,000 people.
