Remonstrance must unite all the activist forces, regardless of their orientation – unionist, anti-unionist, pro-Russian or of another kind because everyone is affected by the committed wrongdoings and thefts, no matter what course or ideal is promoted, member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” Igor Botan said in the public debate “Protest movements in Moldova: motives, manifestations, typical features, developments, benefits, dangers” that was staged by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova.
Igor Botan noted that the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” is an exclusively peaceful movement that is open to forces of all orientations as it aims to become a cohesive one. The situation cannot be destabilized by those who take to the streets. The protesters express their dissatisfaction with a large-scale theft and cannot remain silent for fear of not destabilizing the situation. The US$1 billion that was stolen represents a tax imposed by the ruling politicians on the people who aspire to European integration.
“The evil does not reside in the protest. The protest is a consequence of the evil committed by those who govern this country. I’m aware that there may be provokers who will infiltrate and will try to cause destabilization within the protest and to afterward shift the blame onto those who stage such protests. Being aware of this, we every time ask the law enforcement bodies to take measures to discourage those who attempt to destabilize the situation,” said Igor Botan.
The debate “Protest movements in Moldova: motives, manifestations, typical features, developments, benefits, dangers” is the 39th of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with the support of the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
