The fact that the former director of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) Vasile Botnari assumed full responsibility for the expulsion of the Turkish teachers shows that he is not independent. He did this because he is afraid or because he has a feeling of gratitude to the one who did particular favors to him earlier, expert Igor Boțan stated in the public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned” that was staged by IPN.

The standing expert of IPN’s project said the judgment in this case was a kind of deal, which is something improper and which shows that nothing has changed after two years. On the contrary, things only worsened. “It’s clear that things were arranged and it’s clear who the beneficiaries of these arrangements are. We can also see the attitude to the families of the expelled teachers. These people continue to face problems,” he noted.

According to Igor Boțan lui, some of the politicians boast of the many meetings they had and the many things they did while holding high-ranking posts, but these things are not within their remit, while the things stipulated by the supreme law, which are within their remit, were omitted.

The expert believes the expulsion of the Turkish teachers, which is a tragedy that has a lasting effect on society, actually shows who we are as a society, as a state. Currently, society stagnates as the captive state institutions perfectly complied to commit this crime against the Turkish teachers. “The trial against the ex-SIS head was made secret as practically nothing changed in the country. The problem is much deeper because these people were simply traded,” stated Igor Boțan.

According to him, a self-styled coordinator of the government was received by the Turkish President even if he didn’t hold a state post. It’s not clear what goal was pursued by the regional leader by meeting that self-styled coordinator of the government.

The public debate “Two years of expulsion of Turkish teachers. Lessons learned and lessons to be learned” was the 150th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture through public debates” that are supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
