The executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT) Igor Botan said that after the beheading of the Liberal Democratic Party, we have a conjuncture majority alliance. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN, the expert said all the components are afraid of early elections and are thus forced by the circumstances to stick together.
According to Igor Botan, the components of the alliance make effort to avoid early elections, including because they do not have what to present to the voters, except for corruption-related scandals, and these are thus forced by the circumstances to stay together, at least for about half a year. “During this half a year, we will witness spectacular developments. They started by struggling to gain the President’s sympathy by Premier Strelet’s request to dismiss the director of the National Anticorruption Center. Given that this Center is now part of the Government, I think the Liberal Democratic Party and the Premier want to name a director who would counterbalance somehow the police bodies of the clan of the Democratic Party,” stated the expert.
The ADEPT director noted that several variants are possible after the population lives winter. One of these is related to the election of the head of state. According to him, everyone realizes that the Liberal Party and Mihai Ghimpu were attracted into a trap with the so-called agreement to hold a referendum. Not everyone understands that a referendum in this situation will be a blame vote for this government.
Igor Botan considers that the four parliamentary groups that are afraid of early elections will have to reach a compromise. The Liberal Party and the Party of Communists should vote a common candidate for the post of head of state, but this is very difficult.
According to him, the voting of the state budget for next year is the second very important thing for this Parliament. The restoration of the relations with the international financial organizations, which will impose very harsh conditions, is another very important issue.
