The head of state will be elected in Parliament if the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party Vlad Filat wants it, the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said in a televised program. “If Vlad Filat wants, the missing votes will be found,” he stated. According to the Liberal leader, the two Communist votes were found in 2009 as well, but the President was not voted in because Vlad Filat did not want it. “He does not want Lupu to be elected as the country would be ruled by Plahotniuc. I think we must accept the two votes from the Communists and do so as to have more votes,” said Mihai Ghimpu. He also said that Vlad Filat tried to throw the Democratic Party in the hands of the Communist Party. He accused Vlad Filat of destroying the Alliance for European Integration as he seeks dismissals without discussing the issue within the alliance first. “Instead of strengthening the alliance, he hits it. The alliance now faces arguments, but is not destroyed. There are yet possibilities of overcoming the political crisis,” said Mihai Ghimpu. The legislative body is to elect the head of state on November 18.
