Head of Parliament Andrian Candu, who is the deputy chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM), expressed his optimism that a parliamentary coalition will be formed, but considers that if they insist that the Democrats should not be allowed to put forward a candidate for Prime Minister, the political crisis will continue. The Speaker made such statements in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“I hope a parliamentary coalition will be formed and this will invest the Government. The PDM is the party that must suggest solutions and if it can assume governance, why shouldn’t it do it? If they insist that the PDM should not field a candidate for Premier, the political crisis will continue,” said Candu.
He noted he will make sure that the process of voting candidate for premiership Ion Sturza is fair, but the PDM will most probably not vote him. “I met with Ion Sturza as Head of Parliament. I assured him that the voting process will take place in the appropriate way, but I cannot ensure he is voted in. It depends on each MP apart,” stated the Speaker.
Andrian Candu denied the reports that some of the parliamentary groups reached an agreement not to take part in the January 4 sitting. “There is no agreement. The Socialist MPs announced that they will not attend the sitting. The PDM does not want to discuss with Ion Sturza not because we doubt his capacities, but because we disagree with the way in which he was nominated,” he said.
