The Alliance for European Integration still exists because the constitution agreement that contains the reciprocal understandings of those that signed it is formally in force. If the PDM and PL abandon the alliance, they will have to withdraw their representatives from ministries and other institutions, political analyst Viorel Cibotaru stated for Info-Prim Neo. “Nobody announced their withdrawal from the alliance. Filat’s demand to dismiss a number of persons does not run counter to the constitution agreement. But the fact that he is not supported by the colleagues from the ruling alliance, but is backed by the Communist Party does not contribute to strengthening the alliance as it was initially planned last year,” said the analyst. Viorel Cibotaru considers that if all the leaders come to the meeting of the AEI, it will be a sign that the alliance exists. “If the PL or the PDM withdraw from the alliance, withdraw their people from the Government and other institutions and declare themselves as an opposition party, the situation will be clearer. But I do not rule out that they will come to new understandings if they meet,” he said. According to the analyst, what happened in Parliament, when the Liberal-Democratic and Communist lawmakers voted together, was a surprise. “As the Prime Minister stated, a corrupt system was set up in Moldova, which is an impediment to overcoming the crisis. He announced measures aimed at annihilating this system. He is evidently supported by the Communist Party in his efforts to remove the persons involved in this corrupt system from power,” said Viorel Cibotaru. He avoided anticipating the further behavior of the PLDM and PCRM, which said they do not intend to form an alliance. The PLDM and PCRM voted together in favor of dismissing the director of the Security and Information Service Gheorghe Mihai, at the Premier’s request. Within seven days, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu is to initiate the procedure for discharging Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco and chairman of the National Financial Market Commission Mihail Cibotaru.
