Ex-Speaker Marian Lupu said he would have tendered his resignation if the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat had accepted the zero variant. “I would have done it for the sake of negotiations,” Marian Lupu said in the program “In Depth” on ProTV channel, IPN reports.

The chairman of the PDM said that his dismissal from the post of Head of Parliament represents revenge, while the members of the PLDM and PCRM agreed to vote to remove him on the afternoon of April 24. “Vlad Filat took revenge because he lost the post of Premier and didn’t want me to continue to hold a responsible state post. No reason or argument was invoked in favor of my dismissal. They only said that the regulations were violated,” said Marian Lupu.

He stressed that he understands the position of the PCRM, which wants early elections, but does not understand the stance of the PLDM. “I’m ready for talks even in such conditions. The PLDM hasn’t yet stated its position. I can do without the post of Head of Parliament,” said the Democratic leader, adding that the PDM s not afraid of early elections, but they would lead to the loss of people’s and foreign partners’ trust.

According to Marian Lupu, in the current political crisis, the possibility of early elections stands at 65%.

Marian Lupu was dismissed from the post of Speaker by the votes of 76 MPs on April 25. The Democratic lawmakers and the Liberals who support Mihai Ghimpu didn’t take part in the voting.
