The Buiucani court issued an arrest warrant against the head of the International Express Recruit Ability (IERA) Dumitru Jioara for 20 days. He is now held at the remand unit of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC), suspected of swindling over 1 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center.
According to the CCCEC, about 40 students said they paid large sums of money to the company for finding them employment in the U.S. But the company did not fulfill the conditions of the contract and they demand that they be paid back their money. The students lodged complains with the Center, saying the head of the International Express Recruit Ability requested money from them for scheduling appointments at the U.S. Embassy, obtaining visas, and paying for the contract, the plane ticket and health insurance.
If the court finds him guilty, Dumitru Jioara will serve seven to ten years behind bars and will lose the right to hold a particular post or carry out a particular activity for a period of up to fives years.
