The Moldovan citizens in the near future will be able to ask for new identity cards, driver’s licenses and vehicle registration certificates – made from polycarbonate. The project was initiated with the aim of increasing the security degree of the card-type official documents issued by the state-run Information Resources Center “Registru”.
The implementation of the new technologies for making papers will not affect the price of documents. But the utilization of new protection elements will reduce the possibility of forging documents to a minimum, said acting Minister of Information and Communicant Technology Pavel Filip, quoted by IPN.
The new technology envisions the use of laser equipment for imprinting the data on the internal layer of the card.
The papers issued earlier will be used in parallel, until their period of validity expires.
