The local public administration of Iargara town in Leova district received specialized equipment for waste management, with the support of the European Union. It includes a garbage truck, a van, a bulldozer and different operational waste management equipment. The total value of the equipment is €280,000, IPN reports.
In addition, thanks to a grant of €180,000, a selected local NGO will implement a number of additional measures, including the provision of 1,900 waste bins, equipping of the inter-municipal operator with IT equipment, connecting 10 vulnerable families and a kindergarten to the sewerage network, and others.
Thanks to the efficient management of solid waste, over 13,000 inhabitants of Iargara town and the communes of Cazangic, Saratica Noua, Sarata Noua, Tigheci, and Baius aof these areas will benefit from a cleaner environment and better water access.
The activities were carried out within the “EU4Moldova: Local Communities” program, funded by the European Union, the governments of Germany, Austria and Poland. The initiative aims to improve the standard of living in the districts of Edinet, Straseni and Leova.
