“I wish Moldova prosperity from all my heart. I’m glad that I can walk on this land and pray for the people,” His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russian, said on his arrival at the Chisinau International Airport in the evening of October 8. He was met by Acing President Marian Lupu, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova and 28 archpriests, Info-Prim Neo reports. In his blessing message to the faithful in Moldova, His Holiness Kirill said that it was his first visit as Patriarch, but not the first visit to Chisinau. “I have kept in memory the smiles of the people and the open souls. It is evident that the image of the people here was formed under the influence of the Orthodox Church that helped them overcome the most difficult historical moments, develop as a nation and keep the culture and language. God bless you and help you in continuation!” said Patriarch Kirill. On October 9, the Patriarch will officiate at a liturgical service at the Metropolitan Cathedral in central Chisinau and will then lay flowers at the monument to Stephan the Great. He will bless the pairs that will be marrying. Afterward, the Patriarch will lay flowers in memory of the soldiers killed in battle. A meeting with war veterans will follow at the Memorial Complex “Eternity”. The official will also meet with government officials. His Holiness Kirill will visit the Pediatrics Section of the Oncology Institute in Chisinau and the Monastic Complex “Curchi”. The Patriarch’s delegation will leave Moldova at 14.30 on October 10.
