The people will be glad to have a President who has good relations both with the East and the West. Zinaida Greceanyi has very good relations with Moscow, Gazprom, the IMF, the World Bank, the European banks. “I admit that we went to Brussels to convince them that Greceanyi is the suitable candidate,” said unaffiliated MP Igor Dodon. He stressed that Zinaida Greceanyi is the best candidate for the presidency. “She is not a party member, is a professional and technocratic woman. But she should enjoy the support of at least 61 MPs. We haven’t discussed the issue with the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration yet,” Igor Dodon said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV on Tuesday evening. The MP said he does not know and is not interested in what’s going on inside the AEI. “We risked and offered the solution. If some of the leaders of the alliance take risks to provoke early elections, they should not blame Voronin later. If early elections take place, the group of the three MPs will be much larger in the future legislature. Discussions with the leaders of the ruling alliance can take place tomorrow and we should agree a compromise candidate,” said Igor Dodon. He also said that he does not want to know details of the understandings laid down in the agreement on the formation of the AEI. “We offered three seats for an apolitical candidate. After two years of discussions, we should have an apolitical President. I’m ready to put forward and vote for Zinaida Greceanyi, but we do not impose tough conditions. It would be ideal if a candidate is fielded by 61, not 15 lawmakers,” stated Igor Dodon. The former Communist stressed that many people, including supporters of the AEI, expect that the government will be re-formed. “At this stage, we cannot examine a candidate of the AEI. How can we legalize something that we criticized during two years?” asked Igor Dodon. However, he said he was ready for easily legislative elections. The presidential elections will take place on November 18. No candidate has been yet put up by at least 15 MPs.
