Starting today, August 18, the hunting season opens on doves, quail, wild ducks and foxes. Hunters can take their rifles out. The season will be open till October for quail hunting, till December on doves, and till January on ducks and coots. Foxes can be hunted until the beginning of next year’s May. The information was given to Info-Prim Neo by Hunters and Anglers Society president Oleg Ciocoi. Hunting is free, except for the shooting of pheasants and quail. The pheasant season opens on October 3 and lasts till January 13. Hares can be hunted between December 2 and January 13, and boar hunting will be permitted between November 18 and December 30. The daily bag limit for a hunter is of 15 doves, 5 wild ducks, 20 quails, one hare and one pheasant. There is no bag limit on foxes, since they’re currently overpopulating. Hunters can hunt aquatic birds, hares and foxes, for free. They must pay 100 lei per pheasant, and quail hunting costs 20 lei per day. Moldova’s Hunters and Anglers Society has over 15,000 members, of whom 1,700 are anglers, and over 13,300 are licensed hunters.
